Meet Ed


Ed can be heard on the CD Tribes of the Future released by Omar Hill, Studio Break, with the ensemble A Touch of Brass, and the two Jazplash CDs featuring his own compositions.

Rev. Edward A. Neiderhiser, Ph.D.

An ordained Lutheran minister with a doctorate in Old Testament Studies, Ed is currently the director of Chaplaincy services at the Pennsylvania State Correctional Facility at Graterford.

He is an accomplished performer on trumpet, fluegelhorn, and piccolo trumpet with a wide array of experience in classical, liturgical, rhythm and blues, and jazz venues. He also composes and arranges in each.

Ed has been privileged to play with many of the top names in Philadelphia jazz, including Khan Jamal, Father John D'Amico, Tony Williams, Eddie Green, and Odean Pope among others.

He also frequently performs original compositions in accompaniment to poetry readings by his wife, Sally.
